此前，據Shams Charania報導，Kyrie Irving的交易已經塵埃落定，籃網將Irving送到獨行俠，換取Spencer Dinwiddie、Dorian Finney-Smith、首輪籤等。
據著名記者Chris Haynes報導，消息人士透露，在選擇將Irving送去獨行俠之前，籃網共有四份報價。分別來自湖人，太陽，獨行俠，快艇。
具體如下：
湖人：威少，兩個首輪
太陽：Chris Paul、Jae Crowder，多個並不明確的選秀權。
獨行俠：Spencer Dinwiddie、Dorian Finney-Smith，一個首輪，兩個次輪
快艇：L. Kennard、 T. Mann，一個首輪，兩個首輪互換，和部分現金
「最終，籃網認為獨行俠提出的報價最好，因為在KD（Kevin Durant）在未來一兩週內復出前，他們認為能撐住球隊很重要。」Haynes說。

隨後，據記者Marc Stein透露，蔡崇信在Irving交易中的其中一個目標是不把他送到湖人，因為湖人是Irving心儀的落腳點。
