本賽季，Bickerstaff帶領騎士隊闖入東區準決賽，他在過去的兩年中贏得了99 場例行賽。

根據跟進報道，騎士籃球運營總裁Koby Altman 和 GM Mike Gansey 將在未來幾天開始製定候選主帥名單，有一位候選人需要關注：現任金州勇士隊助理教練Kenny Atkinson。他曾執教Jarrett Allen 與 Caris LeVert與籃網隊一起打進季後賽。
