根據記者Evan Sidery報導指出，本屆狀元熱門人選Alex Sarr拒絕為手握狀元籤的老鷹試訓。而拒記者Jake Fisher指出，Sarr傾向被巫師選中而非老鷹。

而據選秀專家Jonathon Givony報導指出，他對於Sarr與巫師隊的前景表示：「我認為巫師在第二順位選下Alex Sarr是板上釘釘的事。」
