James Harden在火箭隊的表現，曾經一度威脅到當時勇士隊王朝的霸業，而他過往的表現對比現在當然略遜一截，不過還是有許多的當時隊友為他撐腰，稱讚Harden當年的表現。
這次是Harden的過去隊友Daniel House發生，他說：「人們總是談論火箭和James Harden，批評我們沒能在季後賽中走得更遠。但他們沒有意識到那有多難。Harden每晚都要面對三名防守者。你能說出另一個球員要經常應對這種情況嗎？」
「球隊會用盡一切方法防守他，像是雙人包夾，三人包夾，甚至一些奇怪的防守策略，比如派一個人在他背後專門防止他的後撤步投籃。這太瘋狂了。但儘管如此，他仍然能打出亮眼的數據。人們喜歡責怪他沒有帶隊贏球，但責任不全在他身上。」Harden補充。
